About ACT Responsible @ Cannes 2008
ACT Responsible honors Responsible Advertising
This year's ACT Responsible Exhibition "The Expo that changes you from inside", held June 15-20, 2008 during Cannes' International Advertising Festival featured over 400 social and environmental ads and attracted over 5200 visitors.
As a symbolic tribute to great responsible advertising, 8 campaigns were honored at the "Cannes Doves" 2008 ceremony.
The "Cannes Doves" celebrate the best responsible advertising campaigns elected by attending visitors and were presented live from the exhibition location, by advertising personalities such as Michael Siegenthaler, Director of Branded Entertainment, Microsoft Corporation; Tim Love, Vice Chairman of Omnicom Group; Eric Keshin, Chief Operating Officer McCann WorldGroup; Jonathan Harries, Chief Creative Officer DRAFTFCB; Hervé Brossard, Vice Chairman, Chief Client Officer DDB Worldwide...

The Microsoft E-Responsibility Gallery
As we all know, the internet has changed the way we do business and the way we live. As technology's benefits have made computers an increasingly important part of our society, an accurate assessment of the risk of its use has emerged. Awareness and education play an important role in making sure internet users engage in responsible online behavior. This is why we have created a specific e-responsibility gallery focused on privacy, internet safety and security advertising, with the active support of Microsoft Corporation. As an industry leader, Microsoft recognizes its responsibility to address the challenges of internet safety.
“The Expo Café” involved all visitors in a concrete and responsible way
After strolling through the exhibition, visitors were invited to take a break in “The Expo Café” by DRAFTFCB animated by Groupe novembre and enjoyed the ocean view.
In the Café, one could drink fresh Valvert water, rich Malongo coffee and delicious Ben & Jerry's ice cream and were encouraged to make a donation to Unicef 's "United for Children, United against AIDS" fund.
Draw a tree and create the Advertising Forest
The french association of communication agencies (AACC), ACT Responsible, French trade magazine CB News, Non'Stop Media and the environmentalist Nicolas Hulot Foundation launched "Draw a tree and create the Advertising Forest". This “happening” called on the creativity of the delegates and aimed at involving them in a citizenship commitment. Participants were asked to draw trees on canvases. The drawings were sold at a special auction sale and proceeds from the sale were donated to a non-profit association FOREST Avenir engaged in regional reforestation projects, in order to plant the first "Advertising Forest”. Thanks to the creative artists from Ayrine, BETC Euro RSCG, DDB, Draftfcb, Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, TBWA\Map, Young et Rubicam and celebrity Joe La Pompe (copycat tracker) for their participation in this project.
To continue growing the Advertising Forest, donations can be made through their website. This fall, one hundred trees will be planted in the region allowing the absorption of 122 tons of CO2.
