Mode For Me: The Startup Reshaping The Future Of Fashion?

Mode For Me is not just any old startup. At the Startup Weekend’s London hackathon, this small idea, not only won the competition but became a fully fledged startup grounded in a stunning website, thorough business plan and even a list of customers waiting for the launch. All in just 54 hours!

6 weeks later, this small (or very big) idea became the deserving victor of the Global Fashion Battle 2015, fending off competition from New York, Miami, Chicago, and Santa Cruz teams.

In short, Mode For Me is a launch pad for emerging designers; a startup for startups. The digital crowdfunding platform connects budding designers and consumers, cutting out the middle man. This allows users to buy unique clothing and accessories directly from the manufacturers.

The online platform’s unique way of bringing independent designers into the spotlight can only really be compared to functionality and processes of Groupon. Only when there is sufficient demand for the product will the piece go into production, ultimately mitigating the risk and helping each promising designer to create their debut collection.

This is all very well and good, but does Mode For Me have the same global potential of Groupon?

Perhaps. The true potential of Mode For Me stems from the underlying trend for originality within the fashion sector. As we see a move away from ‘fast fashion’, startups that capitalise on this societal shift offering original and limited designer products could be looking at a potentially very prosperous future.
