For winter, Nando's (a South African flame-grilled peri peri chicken franchise) decided to add two new meals to their menu. The brief to our agency was to promote the variety Nando's has to offer.
We realized that variety can be interpreted as diversity, especially in a South African context. So, in true Nando's fashion, we used social commentary to highlight the diversity that exists in our country and also tackle the intolerance of some South Africans towards foreigners.
Apart from selling more chicken, we wanted to raise awareness of xenophobia. This print ad was actually created in support of a TV ad that South African broadcasters decided to pull from their stations.
