World’s First 3D User Generated Concert will Premier on YouTube 3D

NEW YORK – August 3, 2011 – Momentum Worldwide, LG Mobile and alternative rock pioneers, Jane’s Addiction, made innovation history last week at the world’s first 3D user-generated concert broadcasted live on YouTube, and broadcasted tomorrow on YouTube 3D. At a packed Terminal 5 with 1,500 guests in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, more than 100 ticket holders selected by Momentum, LG and Jane’s Addiction received a rare opportunity to be the first to experience LG Thrill 4G™ and capture live, 3D footage of the exclusive Jane’s Addiction performance. Equipped with a stunning 360° stage that allowed for surround-sound and panoramic viewing, the concert also featured LG CINEMA 3D TVs throughout the venue to help put every attendee directly into the action. This unique concert experience, created by Momentum, was part of LG’s “Bring Your World Alive” campaign empowering consumers to experience the benefits of mobile 3D entertainment by creating content that is unique and personal.

Armed with LG Thrill 4G devices, Jane’s Addiction’s fans enjoyed the band’s most famous songs -- including their new tracks “Irresistible Force” and “End To The Lies” from their upcoming album The Great Escape Artist (Capitol Records)-- while capturing 3D video of the concert that will help create a 60-minute documentary of the “World’s First 3D User-Generated Concert.” Premiering on LG Thrill YouTube 3D channel (youtube.com/comealive) tomorrow, August 4, 2011, the 3D documentary will tell the story of how technology has changed the way we create, view and share life’s most memorable moments.

In addition to the Jane’s Addiction concert, the “Bring Your World Alive” campaign will also encourage consumers to fight in 3D with a 3D Gaming Tournament with LG partner Gameloft at the Ferry Building Marketplace in San Francisco on August 10, 2011. DARCY NAMED CHIEF GROWTH OFFICER OF MOMENTUM WORLDWIDE

New York (August 2, 2011) – Momentum Worldwide announced today that Luke DArcy has been named to the new position of Chief Growth Officer from director, business development, EMEA, reporting to CMO Kevin McNulty.

DArcy will focus on raising the profile and awareness of the Momentum Worldwide brand, driving new and organic growth across the agency and overseeing the new business and marketing teams around the world. He will also sit on the McCann Worldgroup growth team, driving new business performance and strategy along with his counterparts at Momentum’s sister agencies.

DArcy rejoined the agency in April 2010, having previously worked at Momentum from 2002-2006.

McNulty said: “This is a great opportunity for Luke to bring his estimable qualities to the global stage. His track record and passion for our Brand and what we stand for made Luke the obvious choice for this high-profile position.”

Before joining Momentum for the second time, DArcy worked directly with Sir Richard Branson, launching the Virgin Racing F1 Team. From 1996-2001, he was new business director for network agency Euro RSCG KLP twice seeing the shop win Marketing Week’s Agency of the year and picking up Euro RSCG’s internal New Business Agency of the Year award. Account wins included winning Microsoft and PepsiCo assignments across 40 countries.

DArcy became a partner of leading global independent agency iris, where he served from 2006-2009. With 14 offices worldwide he led the global new business, PR and marketing of the agency culminating with international account wins like Hertz, Volkswagen, Shell, and ING. This period also saw the agency twice voted UK agency of the Year, APAC Agency of the Year, Sunday Times Top 10 places to work and winner of the £5m Bank of Scotland Entrepreneurs Challenge.

Momentum Philippines Creates Country’s First Plant Billboard for Coca-Cola and WWF

Momentum Philippines, gives Manila commuters a breath of fresh air by creating the country’s first plant billboard that helps protect the environment.  This breakthrough project was launched by Coca-Cola and World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF).   Momentum Philippines also collaborated with Coca-Cola's other agencies including: McCann Erickson Philippines and Starcom MediaVest Group on the "Living" billboard.

 

The 60x60 ft. plant billboard utilizes the most creative and innovative eco-friendly mechanisms. Located in the heart of Manila’s busiest street, the billboard uses 3,600 pots of thriving Fukien tea plants, which absorb air pollutants.  Each plant can absorb an average of 13 pounds of carbon dioxide a year (which is an annual total of 46,800 pounds of dissolved toxic chemicals.) Recycled Coca-Cola bottles were used as pots; all filled with a mixture of industrial by-products and organic fertilizers. A drip irrigation system, also known as trickle irrigation or micro-irrigation, was installed for efficient water distribution. This irrigation method saves water and fertilizer by allowing water to drip slowly to the roots of plants, providing them with what they need when they need it.

Media and Entertainment Veteran Steven Marrs Leads the First Future-Generation Content Studio of its Kind

NEW YORK/HOLLYWOOD/NEW ORLEANS (June 27, 2011)—Momentum Worldwide announced today that it has launched Momentum Entertainment Group (MEG), the first agency-led future generation content studio.

MEG is set to capitalize on Momentum’s existing marketing expertise to forge closer ties with the Hollywood development and creative communities by providing unique financing models while connecting talent, brands, and ideas with distributors to create world class entertainment properties. With tri-coastal offices in Hollywood, New Orleans, and New York, MEG is the only content studio directly connected to a global marketing agency.

Momentum Entertainment Group will initially be comprised of three divisions; Momentum Entertainment, Artist & Brand and Branded Pictures.  Each of these divisions will offer specialized capabilities that complement the overall mission of the company.  MEG is led by President Steven Marrs, who reports to Momentum Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Weil. This move continues Momentum Worldwide’s growth in the entertainment space. PMK*BNC will remain its own unit within Momentum Worldwide, but will work along with MEG, to deliver solutions for clients across multiple channels. 

An accomplished media and entertainment executive, Marrs has been recognized as a pioneer in both the digital and branded entertainment industries.  Marrs brings to MEG his vast experience along with the production company he founded, Branded Pictures, which will now formally become a division of Momentum Entertainment Group.  Marrs and Branded Pictures created, produced and distributed programming across multiple platforms in markets around the world such as: “The World Music Awards,” “America’s Party New Year’s Eve Celebration,”  “Christmas from Central Park,”  “Anatomy of a Socially Awkward Situation” (Digital Series), among many others, working with broadcast networks such as ABC, CBS, CW, FOX and NBC.  Prior to creating Branded Pictures, Marrs was the co-founder of Tribal DDB Worldwide, where he was responsible for building a worldwide network of 30 offices in 21 countries, working with Fortune 500 clients.  Earlier, Marrs served as a founding partner of Blue Marble ACG, one of the first interactive agencies.

New York, NY – June 2, 2011 – Momentum Worldwide announced today that it has named two industry experts to new posts at Momentum China.  John J. Steere has been appointed as Managing Director and Korey Yu was named Business Director.  Steere will report to Momentum Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Weil and Yu will report to Steere. 

 

With over 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising and activation, Steere most recently served as Managing Director, Asia Pacific at Saatchi & Saatchi X.  Steere has experience working on the client and agency side, with stints at DDB Worldwide and Gartner in addition to AT&T and VISA International.  Steere is also a creative entrepreneur who has founded a few agencies in NYC and Asia, later selling them after building them into successful businesses.  He has handled accounts on recognized global brands such as P&G, Coke, Diageo, Adidas, Nike, HP, Philips, Johnson & Johnson, to name a few.  Steere has proven expertise in managing regional operations in APAC, identifying key market opportunities and cultivating strategic business partnerships.  His skill set includes a diverse level of disciplines including digital, PR, activation, multicultural and shopper marketing.
