The D&AD Awards, familiarly known as the ‘Yellow Pencils’ are the most internationally respected and prestigious creative awards for the design and advertising industry
Each year Yellow Pencils are presented at a gala ceremony in London before 2,000 guests. On the rare occasion that a piece of work breaks the mould or sets a new standard of excellence in creativity, the Black Pencil is awarded. All the winners, plus those who are awarded ‘In Book’ status, are showcased in the D&AD Annual & Showreel.
The D&AD Awards span 27 different categories encompassing all aspects of the communication mix from writing and art direction to architecture, music videos and photography. Over 24,000 items from over 60 nations were entered then judged over 10 days by over 270 of the creative A-list, eminent practitioners selected for their expertise in their field, looking for great ideas that are well executed and appropriate.
