Debbie Morrison has spent the last 30 plus years immersed in the advertising industry. She began her career as a planner in several ad agencies, moving on to the client side for a short spell and then joined ISBA in 1989 – celebrating 26 years at ISBA this year.
She leads a team of 5 looking after the practical consultancy needs of ISBA’s 450 key British advertiser members who spend approx. £10b annually on communications activities. In the last year she worked with her team on over 1500 consultancy projects and conversations with advertisers, including managing 114 agency pitches (placing over £300m of business in the UK agency marketplace) and helping to create and negotiate more than 100 client/agency contracts and being involved in numerous discussions on how to improve client agency relationships.
She is a pro-activist in the development of industry best practices and this year has been working with the UK agencies trade body to produce a new revolutionaryframework model contract for use as a single source contract in a converged servcices world, launching in June 2015.
She has been instrumental in developing guidance on how clients can obtain the maximum effect from relationships with communications suppliers. And created guidance on alternative pitch practices on the advice hub www.thegoodpitch.com which are now being used by the client community.
She works closely with academics tracking trends in agency remuneration, relationships, marcoms structures. And has speaks at conferences around th eworld on topics from media agency transparency, contract and fee negotiaiton and pitch processes.
She has worked with marketing communications procurement professionals for the last 19 years educating, advising, coaching and guiding them in their relationships and negotiations with agencies, helping to benchmark processes and share best practices, tools and techniques to improve professionalism within the discipline.
She holds an honours degree in Fine Art and qualifications in Marketing, has one son who works in the agency world and lives in a family commune in the middle of the Devon countryside with, lots of cats, dogs, a horse, chickens and other creatures.
