Krylon. Make it Yours—psssst psssst

Getting an idea made is a journey. Just because you came up with something cool does NOT mean it’s going to be made. Your creative director might hate it. The client might hate it. Plus, it might just be a bad idea. But—when it works out, it feels great.

For example, Frank Cartagena and Sam Shepherd had an offbeat idea for Krylon spray paint.

“Buy something at a yard sale, paint it and sell it back—weird, right?” Yes, weird. And it could be funny.

So what did we do? We wrote a script that showed that. Simple as possible.

But we had a vision and we knew what we wanted the commercials to look like.

First things first, sell the idea through. Check.

Second, get the director we want: Harold Einstein. Check.

Success on both! Now film this thing in LA!

That’s probably the fastest commercial-production talk ever, but it all worked. We had a weird little idea, we had a vision. Added in an unexpected jingle, we sold it through and now we have some Krylon spots for you to check out.

Enjoy.
