MEC South Africa appoints digital authority as new Head of Analytics and Insights

Today, MEC announced the appointment of Alan Morrissey as new Head of Analytics and Insights with MEC South Africa. Morrissey has over 10 years of media experience from Europe, Middle East and South Africa, especially within digital audience measurement and web analytics. Erica Gunning, MD of the South Africa MEC Group, commented, “Alan will help MEC drive transformational marketing solutions through the connection of technology, data, insight and content. In this capacity, we are looking forward to have him join our thriving digital leadership team.” Morrissey is passionate about all things digital and relishes sourcing insight from both quantitative and qualitative measurement across all media. He will be working towards helping MEC and its clients tackle the digital world head-on by using the most cutting edge measurement, insight and research services.  About Alan Morrissey Morrissey comes to MEC from a position as MD of Effective Measure, where he among others was responsible for managing Effective Measure’s relationship with the Interactive Advertising Bureau of South Africa (IAB) as the appointed online audience measurement vendor. He was instrumental in getting agencies, publishers, brands and research companies to use the company’s digital media planning platform and online research services. He also introduced a service that reports on digital campaign effectiveness (ROI) and impact; a first in South Africa. In addition, Morrissey was involved in merging Effective Measure data with AMPS in Telmar to help cross media planning. Before joining Effective Measure, Morrissey served as Senior Sales and Account Manager at UK auditing agency ABC UK – where he was responsible for auditing digital across web, mobile, apps, email, ad serving and print media to industry agreed standards.
