Ogilvy Africa promotes Akua Owusu-Nartey to Chief Client Officer, Sub-Saharan Africa

Ogilvy Africa has promoted Akua Owusu-Nartey to the position of Chief Client Officer across Sub-Sahara Africa to drive best-in-class operational excellence for the agency’s top clients in the continent.

While ensuring that Ogilvy Africa’s clients get a truly world class experience, Akua will also be the Head of Connected Culture, working closely with the Leadership and People Teams to entrench Ogilvy’s defined belief system and values into a lived experience for its people.

A highly respected marketing practitioner with over 18 years’ experience, Akua has been a go-to strategist for clients looking to connect with their target audiences and as senior counsel, this role fits her abilities and the network’s Africa vision.

As she builds a talent strategy that ensures Ogilvy Africa is future ready, she will be guided by her leadership mantra, which is simple yet powerful: "it is amazing what you can achieve when you don't care who gets the credit".

Vikas Mehta – CEO, Sub-Saharan Africa for Ogilvy, said, “Akua’s experience, focus and leadership for the seven years she has led our business in Ghana and West Africa will help us optimally partner with our clients in the achievement of their success today and tomorrow. Respected as a professional, a leader and a human, Akua has the vision and tenacity it takes to transform an organization from within”.

“She brings tremendous insight from managing relationships with global clients and helping them understand consumer behaviour and motivations. I am delighted to have her on board in this new capacity and excited about the future Ogilvy we will create in Africa, together”, added Vikas.

Akua describes herself as a “people person and problem solver at heart” and sees her dual role as a gift she will use to help Ogilvy Africa’s people deliver their best work within a ‘Connected Culture’ that helps them thrive, have fun and grow as they help clients succeed.

"I couldn’t be more excited to work with the People team to bring to life the connected culture we all desire to see at Ogilvy. I look forward to working even more closely with clients to ensure they are always ahead of the curve and help them succeed in being future ready”, noted Akua.

Akua’s new role takes effect on 1st August, 2023 and she will continue to be based in Accra as she collaborates with colleagues across Sub-Saharan Africa for the future triumph of the agency within this region.
