Last summer to promote the theatrical release of the Simpsons Movie, a dozen 7-Eleven convenience stores were temporarily -- and radically -- made over into Kwik-E-Marts, the fictional store of The Simpsons cartoon lore. Each participating store was transformed, inside and out. It became a public relations bonanza with long lines of fans creating a run on the stores, many waiting hours to buy limited-edition promotional merchandise.
Products sold in the stores were replaced with ones created to mirror the fictional goods featured in the The Simpsons, such as KrustyO's cereal, a product endorsed by the show's popular clown. Life-sized cutouts of the movie's characters adorned the aisles in addition to the packaging of the never-before sold items on the shelves. Over a millio |
