New York Festivals International Advertising Awards and the Berlin School of Creative Leadership Announce the Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members

New York, NY – September 20, 2012: New York Festivals® International Advertising Awards, now in its 56th year of honoring the World’s Best Advertising™, announced their partnership with the Berlin School of Creative Leadership to offer an exclusive scholarship for New York Festivals Executive and Grand Jury Members, the “Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members”.

This scholarship provides New York Festival International Advertising Awards Executive Jury and Grand Jury members the opportunity to attend the Berlin School’s part-time global Executive MBA Creative Leadership Program. The recipient of this scholarship will receive 53,000 Euro in tuition based support to attend the EMBA program starting March 10, 2013 in Berlin. Designed for busy professionals, the program can be completed in one to two years with 5 separate 2-week modules in Berlin, the USA, and Asia.
The application deadline for the “Helga and Michael Conrad Scholarship for New York Festivals Jury Members” is November 1st, 2012 and the scholarship winner will be announced on November 15th, 2012. New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Jury members (both current and past) may apply or they may nominate a leader from their agency.
The scholarship is open to all jury members who have served on New York Festivals International Advertising Awards juries. All applicants must have a Bachelors degree and entries will be reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges from the Berlin School. The winner will be chosen based on the strength of the candidate’s overall professional, academic, and personal profile. In 2012, Michael Conrad served as Executive Jury Moderator, with Donald Gunn, Founder of The Gunn Report, for the 55th Annual New York Festivals International Advertising Awards Executive Jury panel. The 2013 New York Festivals International Advertising Awards will begin accepting entries on November 5th, 2012.

The Epica awards were created in 1987 and celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. Having originally focused on Europe only, the awards have progressively extended their geographic coverage and will become worldwide this year.
With 48 categories, Epica covers all types of communication: TV, Press, Poster, Radio, Business-to-Business, Corporate Image, Medical, Direct Marketing, Media Innovation, Branded Content, PR, Promotions, Craft, Design, Packaging, Interactive and Integrated Campaigns.
Three new Film Craft categories have been introduced in 2012 (Animation; Direction & Cinematography; Editing & Special Effects), while the Interactive categories have been extended to cover different types of products and services.
The awards are judged by journalists from 41 specialist trade press titles and dedicated websites. 34 countries will be represented on the jury this year; including, for the first time, Canada (Strategy), India (exchange4media), Singapore (AdAsia), China (Modern Advertising), Australia (Campaign Brief) and the Philippines (adobo magazine). The Russian website sostav.ru will also join the 2012 jury, replacing Epica's traditional Russian partner Advertising Ideas.
The Epica results count in the main international creative rankings.
All the winners and a selection of other high-scoring entries are also published in the 400-page Epica yearbook which is distributed worldwide. All entrants automatically receive a free copy.
Epica book 25, covering the 2011 awards, came out in August. The book is introduced by Martin Spillmann, Founder and Executive Creative Director of Spillmann/Felser/Leo Burnett Zurich, winner of the 2011 Press Epica d'Or (Swiss Life). It includes background stories on all the 2011 grand prix winners by Lewis Blackwell and Mark Tungate (who also wrote the creative synopses). The closing date for entries is October 1st, 2012 and full results will be announced on the Epica website at the end of November.
The annual ceremony and creative conference will be held at the Cankarjev Dom Culture & Congress Centre in Ljubljana on January 25th, 2013. The event will be hosted by Slovenia's MM magazine and a full programme of international speakers will be announced in December.
