Erik has a reputation for lyrical filmmaking with both “wow-shot” visuals and authentic performances. His diverse output includes campaigns for Honda, Ikea, Coke, and Canon. The mixture of invention and design in his filmmaking talents give the work a depth and richness of detail that make it fun to watch over and over.
Erik’s earlier life included university reading robotics, drumming for art school bands, a spell in fashion photography, as well as trying to cure an insatiable travel bug. He started his commercials career at original advertising hot shop TBWA Hunt Lascaris, where he made a name for himself as an award winning creative.
His rise to success as a director was kick-started when Boards Magazine ranked him as one of the top 5 new directors worldwide. He was also selected as one of 20 out of 600 international directors to participate in the prestigious ‘Saatchi and Saatchi Directors Showcase’ screened at Cannes. Erik’s work is regularly featured in leading international creative publications whilst picking up a steady stream of awards at all the major shows. Although none sweeter than his very first, a Gold as well as Craft for Direction at the local South African Loeries for his very first spot MTN ‘Cricket’– a record to date for a first-time director.
Erik’s drive for new creative opportunities and fresh executions is an extension of his belief that at the core of any project there has to be a good idea and preferably one that values the viewer.
