James Lawes

Talented. Versatile. Emotive.
James is an incredibly talented director, the innovative filming techniques he demonstrated in his Meningitis Now campaign garnered him a place in the APA top 50. His branded short film for MTR has won a ton of awards including Cannes Media and multiple Golds at the Evcoms for Best Director, Best Drama, Best Cinematography and Best Music.
He is a regular winner of the annual IVCA’s and NYFF awards, including winning Best Charity Film three times, Best Industry Newcomer 2010, Best Director 2013. He recently won four awards at the 2016 New York Festival awards including World Medal for Best Direction.
Whether working on, promos, TV shows, documentaries or commercials, James has an extensive client list that takes him all over the world. He's also shot a film for ICAP directing a whole host of mega celebrities including Oprah Winfrey,Meryl Streep, Matthew McConaughey, Bill Nighy and the late Alan Rickman. Currently working on getting his first feature film off the ground James Lawes injects cinematic realism into everything he creates.
