Worked As

Wayne Holloway

2001: Working through Stark in his native London and (newly launched Headquarters satellite) BrandTV in the US, Holloway has directed spots for Reebok, Sony, Quizno's, Adidas, Burger King and Miller in both the US and the UK. Rather than contemplating life's mysteries on a mountaintop following graduation, Holloway applied his combined street smarts and book learning to music videos for the likes of Shane McGowan and Sinead O'Conner. After a few years of hands-on experience in pop promos, Holloway dropped out and wrote a number of feature scripts, one of which, "Stop History," is slated for production this November via the East London Film Fund. The script combines absurd humor with immigration and ethnic identity issues within the story of three East London taxi drivers and their offspring. In 1999, he shot his first spot, a test commercial for the Metropolitan Police through TBWA GGT Simons Palmer.
Other recent jobs for Holloway include two spots for Reebok out of Berlin Cameron & Partners, New York. The ads highlight the snug fit of pump trainers by alternately swinging a wearer by his sneaks from a carnival ride or lowering the victim into a lion cage with raw meat chained to his sneakers. A Swedish campaign for Comviq through Forsman & Bodenfors, Stockholm, embraces more cinematic values, illustrating how little value 2p now represents via barely begun and abruptly finished visits to the hairdresser and psychiatrist. He recently wrapped an Abba Paste spot for the Swedish agency, this one an absurd situation involving a cheese and salami couple's distate for a futuristic new fish spread.
2004: Wayne graduated with a PhD in Philosophy from university of Essex in 1990. At that time he fell in love with Wittgenstein which nobody read in the advertising business! So he does not want to talk about that period. Please don't ask him, he may get nervous, especially after a few glasses of wine (white)...
Wayne began directing pop videos for the likes of Shane Mac Gowan and Sinead O'connor from his own company, LALA LAND productions, which he ran from 1994 to 1998. Joining Stark Films in 1999 for commercial representation, Wayne's first job was MET POLICE lads for TBWA swiftly followed by a Sony Playstation "This is football" commercial/longform also for TBWA. 180 Amsterdam quickly commissioned him to direct a multi-award winning Adidas Olympic campaign staring Lee Evans and several Olympic athletes for 180 Amsterdam. Wayne soon decided to set up a satellite company in LA with producer/partner Bryan Farhy at Headquarters films in Santa Monica in 2OO1. He shot several campaigns for Reebok, Quiznos (world medal NY Ad fest 2001), NASCAR, Coke and Lincoln cars over the next 4 years. Joining RSA LA Xmas 2003 and RSA London May 2003, he has continued to shoot successful commercials in the UK and the States. Currently, Wayne has a film in development with the UK Film council which was scheduled for shooting in 2004. But that is life in the feature films: it might happen in 2006! He is now writing a book to have a sort of compensation ( that is a cool way of doing something versus making films and having 100 of people involved !), thinking he can be more intelligent and successful then Michel Houellbecq... Could he be right?
