Creating the Punch in Mark Ronson’s Glasto Set

Marok Ronson Glastonbury'

By far one of the most talked about sets at this year’s Glastonbury Festival had to be Mark Ronson. As with any Ronson show the the guest appearances were thrilling and the music was tight. To accompany such a top-notch performance, Final Cut Editor Chris Amos and Art Director Brian Roettinger were tasked with creating eye-popping visuals for the concert’s jumbo screens.

Working closely with animations by San Charoenchai, live action footage shot by Eric Yue and Wyatt Troll, Chris edited unique narratives for each song of the set, which were displayed on the background screens. Even in between songs, the screens showcased an imaginative journey for the audience. During these set-ups, a live video mixer created loops of Chris’ edits of subway train rides through the city, showing the transition from downtown to uptown, a theme of Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’-centric set.

The set was full of surprises as Mark Ronson was joined by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Daniel Merriweather, The View’s Kyle Falconer, Miike Snow’s Andrew White, Boy George, Grandmaster Flash, George Clinton and Mary J Blige.
