AGENCY OF THE YEAR > THE BROOKLYN BROTHERS, UK & ISLENSKA, ICELAND

SPONSORED BY THE EUROPEAN PUBLISHERS’ COUNCIL

The 2011 Euro Effies ‘Agency of the Year’ was a close competition between five agencies. To win this award, an agency needs to score well in Round 1, achieve success at Bronze & Silver level, but above all win Gold and and/or the Grand Prix to be sure of victory. The 2011 “Agency of the Year” did just that – a very high 1st round score capped by a Gold and the Grand Prix proved an unbeatable formula.

More importantly, The Brooklyn Brothers & Islenska have continued to fly the flag for small independent agencies, following last year’s success for German agency Heimat, the first independent to win this prestigious title since it was introduced to the Euro Effies in 2003, following in the footsteps of BBDO (2003), McCann Erickson (2004 & 2009) and Grey (2005 – 2008).

The Brooklyn Brothers & Islenska’ Gold Euro Effie-winning campaign caught the imagination of the jury, who found their “Inspired by Iceland” campaign “a really innovative and inspiring response to a 'perfect storm' of challenges which turned a series of setbacks into positive commercial results”.
