TitleTerre d'Hermès
BriefA classic and beautiful perfume ad, with galloping horses, a guy with a bare torso, natural elements and sensuality aplenty. According to the brand, the film tells a story “of the mythic elements of the ancient and natural world”, enabling us to experience “this bold and ancient alchemy as the perfumer transforms material, from earth through air and water”. We’re left in no doubt that the end result smells pretty good, too.

Story Terre d’Hermès tells a story of the mythic elements of the ancient and natural world—a story of transformation from earth to bloom told through the sensorial pleasure of the eau. Mineral notes give root to woody tones and warm resins flow behind rich green notes and clear dewy water to bloom into the air with the vivacity and sparkle of citrus scents enhanced by a note of shiso. Experience this bold and ancient alchemy as the perfumer transforms material, from earth through air and water.
Problem This new chapter for Terre d’Hermes was inspired by the idea of creating a beginning - in a way a prequel - but one which was also to be an evolution to the other two films. The challenge was in creating originality in narrative and visuals whilst taking the story that is Terre back to the powerful simplicity of origin. Man is born to the earth from the uncompromising beauty and wisdom of nature, alive with the elements and spirituality delivering the inner passion and instinct that is the dynamic of the man summoned by his nemesis, the horse. Their journeys run in parallel - emotively and metaphorically - connected through the eternal resonance of nature.
