Story A new microsite created in collaboration with Firstborn, was an answer to the client's challenge not only to create an online version of their Winter Catalog, but to mirror the high-energy, creative culture of winter sports and create an engaging experience. Sport Chalet is known for being "The Expert" in sporting goods. With the Microsite, Sport Chalet wanted to connect their core audience directly to their experts – professional athletes.
Philosophy Radio, online, and a holiday sweepstakes also supported the campaign. Consumers had the chance to win weekly prizes from some of their favorite brands (37 total prizes). Weekly grand prizes were also awarded and include autographed snowboards signed by all of the professional athletes showcased on the Sports Chalet site. The sweepstakes ran through December 24, 2008.
Problem The site focused on winter sports, including snowboarding and skiing and features professional athletes wearing the latest gear and offering tips and stories through individual one-on-one interviews. The result is a completely interactive way of shopping for winter gear.
Result As mellow hip-hop beats sway in the background, visitors to the site can rotate a fractal mountain that hosts a variety of professional snowboarders sporting duds and plugging equipment from their sponsors. Additionally, you can download wallpapers and watch video interviews with the various pros.
