AccuWeather Selects Huge as Its Strategic Partner for New Global Mobile Application

After a competitive review, AccuWeather,  recognized and documented as the most accurate source of weather forecasts and warnings in the world, selected Huge, the global experience agency (NYSE: IPG), as its strategic partner on digital initiatives, effective immediately. The agency will be tasked with co-developing the new AccuWeather global mobile application for iOS and Android, as well as other selected digital initiatives.

AccuWeather is a global digital media company that provides highly accurate commercial weather forecasting services to a worldwide audience in a highly scalable manner. The brand’s API supports over 60 billion data requests on a daily basis, enabling its advanced technical infrastructure to build best-in-class weather-related services.

In this new relationship, the agency will be responsible for co-developing AccuWeather’s new global mobile application for iOS and Android and seamlessly integrating this into the brand’s product and technology teams. Huge and AccuWeather are working side-by-side with an integrated team model to leverage all expertise. In addition to digital product development, Huge will be responsible for design exploration, user testing, feature development, user engagement, retention support, and ongoing user research.

“The weather impacts everyone and everything—from what you wear to your choice of commute, to where you travel,” said Kurt Fulepp, Global Chief Product Officer at AccuWeather. “Our mobile apps are used by tens of millions of monthly active users worldwide. More users and partners trust AccuWeather over any other global weather brand to deliver the most personal, relevant, and accurate forecast information no matter the time and place. Huge was exactly the kind of partner we were after to help us continue to evolve our mobile experience. The agency’s focus on craft and creativity, as well as its expertise in tech, made it a quick decision for us.”

Pete Stein, Global Chief Executive Officer at Huge, commented, “AccuWeather is the most historically and scientifically respected forecast provider in the world, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with this long-term category leader in this next phase of product transformation.”

The relationship officially commenced in the spring of 2019, and the first work is expected to launch out of the agency’s Brooklyn office in Q4 2019.
