Johnny graduated from Edinburgh University and moved straight into a career in advertising by joining Ogilvy & Mather as a graduate trainee.
Having cut his teeth at O&M he moved to CDP where he became a Board Account Director in 1995. In the same year Johnny was also picked out by Campaign Magazine as a ‘Fact to Watch’.
In just 3 years at CDP Johnny was responsible for accounts such as Honda across Europe, Panasonic, MGM, the Early Learning Centre and JAL. He also became their Client Services director before leaving in 1998 to join TBWA.
At TBWA Johnny was responsible for Nissan, Virgin, the COI, The Big Issue, Holsten, Absolut, Apple and Habitat. Within just 18 months, he had been made Joint Managing Director.
His last act at TBWA was to be responsible for winning and running the campaign that saw Labour to a second landslide victory in 2001. The following day he tendered his resignation along with Simon Clemmow to form Clemmow Hornby Inge.
CHI&Partners as it’s now known has grown into an agency working globally on brands for Lexus, Samsung, Diageo, RBS and GSK.
In 2013 Johnny launched The&Partnership of which he is Chairman & CEO. The & Partnership has over 1,400 people, working across 10 different disciplines from advertising to PR, to media to design, digital, content, data, social, operating in 23 offices in 17 countries.
