During the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, whether you’re in the Palais or tracking the happenings online, there’s a lot of who, what, when, where and why that is, frankly, a bit overwhelming to keep up with.
Enter J. Walter Thompson London’s @Cannesin140 Twitter account. Launched right on time for Cannes 2015, the Twitter page used only emojis to describe and celebrate Lion-winning campaigns, covering every gold Lions winning campaign and also covered Grand Prix and silver Lions winners.
Toby Chishick, Social Media Director at J. Walter Thompson London said of the initiative, “With @Cannesin140, we wanted to deliver something helpful but that also celebrated the great work on show and captured the fun of this utterly unique event. Whether you love them or not, emojis are ubiquitous at the moment and a new and interesting communications medium, so where better to give them a real outing than at Cannes?”
The @CannesIn140 activation was also recently shortlisted for the UK Agency Awards‘s Best Social Media Campaign category.
The UK Agency Awards is a new awards event that is “the UK’s first awards recognizing excellence in the way that agencies are run, marketed and grown.” The awards ceremony in September 2015, will celebrate outstanding agencies, campaigns and talent in 26 categories and feature a judging panel of 30 leading in-house professionals in marketing, communications, advertising and digital from UK’s biggest brands.
Winners will be announced at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday, September 10. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the J. Walter Thompson London team.
