Hugh is an instinctive challenger and believes if you are not challenging something you don’t have a strategy or perhaps a future. Positioning PHD as a challenger and behaving as a challenger company is an obsession of his. This has helped guide PHD’s culture and led to many marketing and media accolades in recent years. It has helped clients like the Guardian, Enterprise, Expedia and Virgin Atlantic produce work that steps out of their categories and make a dent in the world. Hugh’s career spans market defining PR companies, independent creative and strategy businesses and global advertising agencies, all in leadership roles.

Daren Rubins is a rare breed because he always knew he wanted to work in advertising, perhaps a result of all those hours spent watching Darrin, the advertising executive husband of Samantha in Bewitched.
Across the last twenty five years, Daren has worked at two creative agencies, as well as enjoying stints at Carat, MediaCom and MediaVest.
He joined PHD in 2000, rising to Managing Director in 2007 and then to CEO in 2011, leading successful pitches such as Cadbury, Kraft, Dyson, eHarmony and Expedia.
Daren has overseen and driven significant change at PHD as the business has transitioned from a local offering to a global network, has integrated itself into the Omnicom Media Group and has thrived in an increasingly digital world.
By the end of 2011, PHD had been awarded all three Media Agency of the Year accolades (Campaign, Marketing and Media Week), as well as the inaugural Marketing Magazine Grand Prix; Best Agency In Any Discipline.
Daren’s dream is to create a legacy of a media industry that is richer in talent, diversity and skills. To that end, he was jointly responsible for creating a new industry qualification, The Advanced Certificate in Communications Planning and Execution, on behalf of the IPA.
Outside of work he forces his son to join him at Loftus Road to watch Queens Park Rangers.
