In his current role, Rick is responsible for all agency growth and branding, nationally. Rick arrived as CMO due of his unique agency and client experience, allowing him to understand how to deliver against client's business goals by connecting with today's disengaged consumers. His formula is to be continuously discovering emerging technologies, digging for consumer insights and listening to clients needs (which he says is a lost art). He's constantly looking to increase awareness of KBS in Canada through thought leadership pieces, promoting the agency's award-winning work, and finding the right agency partnerships that fit with the organization's unique selling proposition of Do Things That Matter. His work experience spans the fields of packaged goods (Kraft, PepsiCo), entertainment (HGTV, Food Network, History Channel), wireless/mobile technology (Rogers Wireless, Microsoft), automotive (Nissan/Infiniti) as well as Food and Retail (The Keg, CARA Foods, ACE Bakery). This diverse background spans many disciplines including traditional, retail, promotions, digital, direct marketing, and channel marketing. Rick prides himself on his optimistic view, his craving for new challenges and passion for changing behaviour, all leading to his compelling narratives.

Matt Hassell is a modern Chief Creative Officer, who has a history of both building up creative agencies and delivering work that has been globally awarded by the Cannes Lions, Epica Awards, Webby’s, One Show, Effies, Clios, Communication Arts and several other International and Canadian award shows. Matt believes in creating a new narrative for advertising – one that treats innovation, technology and consumer insight as key ingredients in augmenting a brand’s position. This has led him to deliver a broad base of work that has seen him recognized and awarded in areas such as digital, design, film, print, events, shopper marketing, innovation and CRM. As a testament to his approach, he has been a leading part of agencies that have been shortlisted as Agency of the Year, Digital Agency of the Year and Design Agency of the Year. As the lead of OgilvyOne, he directed the team to several key new business wins and achieved their most awarded year in their history. Most recently, he led KBS Canada to its most awarded year creatively and netted the agency their first Cannes Lions. Matt has a passion for building agencies into creatively-led companies that use the full arsenal of modern tools and ideas to achieve their clients’ business aims. For him, anywhere a consumer touchpoint exists so too does a creative opportunity; from logo design to brand launch campaigns and social activations to PR events. Matt is a strong believer in contributing ideas to the industry and has been happy to accept invitations to speak at several conferences, including Google, the DX3 conference and the Canadian Marketing Association.
