Grupo ABC was founded in 2002 by Nizan Guanaes, João Augusto Valente and had Grupo Icatu as an investor partner. The group brought back the Guanaes-Valente partnership after they had sold the agency, DM9, and had created an Internet portal called iG. The main goal was to start up one of the most relevant and biggest advertising groups in the world, headquartered in Brazil — in other words, a business that would have Brazilian DNA. First, Grupo ABC started focusing its advertising operations on agencies such as DM9DDB, Africa, MPM, and Loducca. Afterwards, it expanded its operations with companies that offered specialized services such as events, direct marketing, and point of sales marketing. The advertising and marketing group went international in 2008. The group started the first advertising agency overseas, Pereira & O’Dell, in San Francisco (USA). In 2010, the group founded Dojo, also located in San Francisco, and Africa in New York City. In 2013, Kinea Investments became a partner of ABC, adding their expertise and financial resources to accelerate the expansion of the group. All partner-managers play active roles in every company.
