The Laus Awards commend excellence in the fields of graphic design, interactive media, graphic communication and audio-visual communication. The goal of the awards is to recognise the importance of graphic design and art direction, which is achieved by showcasing our very best work.
The competition is open to work produced in in any of the 4 categories: Graphic Design, Audio-visual Communication, Interactive & Digital media and Graphic Communication.. This work must have been published in either print or on-line, or have been broadcast in the media during the year January to December 2004.
Applicants of winning pieces will receive the Trofeo Laus. In turn the Jury will decide which pieces merit the distinction of the Nominación Laus, which is awarded by a diploma. All award-winning entries, and any others which the Jury considers to be deserving of recognition, shall be reproduced in colour accompanied with full credits in the Laus 05 Yearbook. This book is distributed internationally.
Laus 05 also comprises the 8th edition of the Laus Awards for Institutional Graphic and Communication. From this year onwards the awards, organised by ADG-FAD in collaboration with Provincial council of Barcelona and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, will reward graphic communication produced by public organisations showing a commitment to superior design and graphic excellence. Participation in the Laus Awards 05 for Institutional Graphics and Communication is open to Spanish participants only.
Another very important part of the awards is the recognition of work produced by students. This takes the form of the 2nd edition of the Laus Awards for Students, whose panel of judges is made up of some of the best professionals in our country. The aim of this event is to promote advertising and graphic design students throughout Spain while at the same time providing a showcase for the work of the new generation of designers.
Finally, as a suitable complement to the Awards, and as part of the different activities which makes up the 2005 Laus Year, the 5th edition of Forum Laus shall also be held. This event consists of four days of exhibitions, conferences, workshops and debates concerning visual communication.
Laus 05 culminates in the Noche Laus held on May 12th 2005. More than just an awards ceremony, this is a party where the triumphant designers are honored and the rest of us have the opportunity to enjoy the quality of the work awarded.
