The Canadian Safe School Network decided to use the retargeting strategy of banner ads to create Bully Ads, which behave exactly like cyber bullies. Targeting top bloggers, media and influencers, the ads relentlessly followed users around the web and unleashed a slew of hostile and berating banners, including “you only annoy me when you are breathing” and “you have no friends.” Targets truly felt bullied as they received as many as 60 ads each day.
