Wunderman Thompson New York Boosts Leadership with Appointment of Rodrigo Maroni as Chief Strategy Officer

Wunderman Thompson, a WPP agency, proudly announces the appointment of Rodrigo Maroni as Chief Strategy Officer to its New York office. Maroni will be charged with injecting his creative firepower to help move the agency’s growth strategy forward. As a member of the executive team, he will work closely with leadership to activate Wunderman Thompson’s broad depth of capabilities for clients. He will report to Wunderman Thompson New York CEO Audrey Melofchik, who joined the company in May to fuel growth in one of the agency’s key markets.

With over two decades of experience in New York and São Paulo, Maroni has a track record of inspiring creativity to drive better decision-making for businesses and brands. He has advised established and challenger brands in successful new product launches, brand repositioning efforts, and digital transformation throughout his career. His industry experience spans financial services, fashion, technology, telecom, and consumer package goods.

He is a boomerang, having worked as an account planner at J.Walter Thompon at the early stage of his career. During Maroni’s tenure at companies such as Africa, Wieden + Kennedy, Bartle Bogle Hegarty and most recently, Crispin Porter + Bogusky Brasil, his work achieved world-class industry accolades such as the Grand Prix in Cannes. Maroni has also used his platform to elevate diversity and inclusion, helping ensure the strategy disciplines he leads benefit from diverse points of view.

“Marketers today need rigorous strategic partners to help them ideate and deliver on the endless possibilities at their disposal; the bar for account planners has never been higher, says Rodrigo Maroni. “Wunderman Thompson is an agency that sits at the cutting edge of these demands, unequaled on the sum of its broad capabilities and its rich legacy on shaping account planning as a discipline. So, it brings me tremendous joy and a sense of responsibility to join the spectacular Wunderman Thompson New York leadership team and help create the future we yearn for.”

“We are beyond thrilled to have Rodrigo take over leadership for our strategy team in NY and to join me as a partner in defining the next chapter of this great agency,” said Audrey Melofchik, New York CEO at Wunderman Thompson. “He has spent his career inspiring teams and leading client partnerships to produce bold creative solutions that drive growth. We’re on a mission to build an agency like no other that delivers world-class work for our clients. His expertise will help us sharpen our strategic craft to fuel growth within our deep and diverse suite of capabilities in this region.”
