Believe Media Signs Multimedia Director Radical Friend in Europe

Believe Media UK has signed Radical Friend, the directing alias of Los Angeles-based experimental filmmaker Kirby McClure. Named by FilmMaker Magazine's as one of the "25 New Faces in Film," Radical Friend brings a fresh and striking visual style to the Believe roster, where he will be represented for commercial and new media work throughout Europe.

Radical Friend brings a vast background in design, event staging and interactive media that greatly influences his stand-alone style of film directing. His vivid and always inventive aesthetic translates seamlessly into music video work, leading Radical Friend to be nominated for an UKMVA for Yeasayer’s “Ambling Alp” and an MTV VMA for Skrillex ft. The Doors video for “Breakin’ a Sweat,” as well as being named by German Rolling Stone as one of the "Top 50 People Who Will Change Music."

Radical Friend's otherworldly music videos, short films and web-based interactive worlds have been screened at the Hammer Museum, the Lincoln Center, The Saatchi Gallery Paris, and at the Toronto International Film Festival, and he has also been named one of New York Magazine's "14 Directors to watch in the YouTube Age.”

In 2013, Radical Friend helmed Lexus' “Design Disrupted,” a 15-minute multimedia ballet/fashion presentation featuring Coco Rocha. The theatrical avant-garde piece provided viewers with a fully immersive experience through a fusion of live dance performance, holographic images, and 3d projection mapping.

Radical Friend continues to gather speed in the advertising realm, recently directing a standout campaign for Adidas, depicting a football player’s sense of gravity being toyed with against surreal, futuristic backdrops. In another stunning display of reality-bending artistry, Radical Friend directed a thrillingly cinematic film trailer announcing the launch of the 2015 Type-R Honda Civic for UK agency Karmarama, which is currently playing in theatres across the UK.

On Radical Friend joining the lauded Believe roster, UK Executive Producer Rory Fry remarks, "We're very excited that Radical Friend has chosen Believe as his European home. His unique creative approach is pure alchemy…we think his original style of filmmaking is truly groundbreaking.”
