Title | (Fo)rest in peace |
Brief | A new forestry law in Spain meant that it was possible to build on forest land destroyed by fire. Not by coincidence, forest fires increased by 55%. To combat the real estate speculators, a forest preservation group and the agency used another law: one that prohibits building up to 500 metres around a cemetery. And so, new "cemeteries" began springing up in the forest. The creative idea drew attention to the cause. And in the end, the new law was reversed. |
