The BMW tower in Munich was built in 1972 and designed by architect Karl Schwanzer to resemble the four cylinders of an auto engine. It’s one of the city’s most distinctive landmarks. But even BMW accepts that petrol engines are becoming a bit passé, particularly since it has sold 100,000 electric vehicles since their launch in 2013. To celebrate this feat, a giant projection turned its iconic headquarters into four huge batteries. Jung Von Matt/Spree say the “epic projection” required nine laser projectors, 10 additional projectors, 100 LED lights and 480 intelligent moving lights, as well as 84 kilometers of cable. At the same time, BMW announced the launch of 12 more fully electric vehicles between now and 2025.
