Dapper.tv, the comedy division of production powerhouse Believe Media, is giving a mighty hip, hip hooray over the signing of Australian directors Dario Russo and David Ashby for exclusive commercial representation in the U.S.
Dario and David are a writing/directing team (alright, let’s just call them the geniuses ‘cause that’s what they are) behind the uproarious television series Danger 5, which has achieved a die-hard cult following worldwide after its first season. Danger 5 follows the exploits of five spies in WWII on a mission to kill Hitler, shot as a stylistic send-up of 1960s spy flicks.
But they wanted more. So when season 2 came out in 2015, Danger 5 suddenly took place in the 1980s. Yes, it made fun of every conceit you could think of from that decade while our team continued its hunt for Adolf Hitler. Was that a John Hughes film we just spotted him in? See for yourself. Both seasons of Danger 5 are currently available on Netflix in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Danger 5 was Dario and David’s follow-up to their first project, Italian Spiderman, a loving homage to the bizarre versions of famous superheroes that pop up around the globe. The duo’s unique voice for genre-mashing comedy struck a chord with viewers, with Italian Spiderman morphing into a ten-part web series with millions of hits.
Dario and David are currently developing various projects across the television and feature board, and are excited to bring their wonderfully weird aesthetic to the world of traditional advertising and branded content with Dapper.tv.
Founders David Lyons and Roderick Fenske, along with Believe EP Luke Thornton, are thrilled to welcome Dario Russo and David Ashby to the comedy collective. Dapper.tv (AKA The less serious side of Believe) is a production company representing an elite group of directors who put the funny bone first.
