In a new report from research consultancy firm COMvergence, Mindshare secured business to the value of $1.1bn in the first half of this year (including $741m in retained billings), putting the agency in the top position. MediaCom and Wavemaker also did well in the period, ranking second and third respectively, with MediaCom winning marginally more new business than Wavemaker.
Perhaps the most noteworthy point is the number of global and multi-country reviews that took place in H1 2020, just as the first COVID and lockdown impacts were felt. Diageo and Telefonica both reviewed their $350m accounts, as did Hasbro at $260m and Emirates at $120m. COMvergence estimates the total dollar value of media reviews at $1.9bn in global and multi-country pitches and another $8.2bn in billings that took place at local level.
