In a move to further strengthen its leadership team, Mercury announced it has promoted Bernadette Abasta to Executive Vice President, up from Senior Vice President of Media, a position she has held for the last two years. Mercury also hired Dan McGillick as Senior Vice President, TV Buying. Prior to joining Mercury, McGillick served as the Vice President of Horizon Next for the last seven years. Abasta will report to CEO Nicholas Nocca, while McGillick reports to Beth Vendice, president of Mercury’s Performance unit.
“We’re thrilled to recognize Bernadette’s leadership with a new title and expanded responsibilities, and excited to welcome Dan to the team,” said Nocca. “These are people who know what it takes to drive profitable growth in the performance TV space. With Bernadette in an Executive role, and with Dan now on board, we’ve further strengthened our leadership team.”
With 28 years of direct response media and marketing experience, Abasta leads Mercury’s Los Angeles office and is both well-known and well-respected in the industry. In addition to revitalizing the agency’s long-form media practice, Abasta has successfully launched several brands on TV such as Phillips and driven significant business growth on behalf of existing clients.
In his newly-created position, McGillick will be responsible for unifying buying groups across Mercury locations. He will draw upon his considerable DRTV experience to reinforce best practices and build upon Mercury’s strong foundation. McGillick is a seasoned media professional, having held senior roles managing clients like Helzberg Diamonds, 3M, and Johnson & Johnson for the past 30 years.
“I love Mercury’s culture,” said McGillick. “The people are smart, savvy and relentless. Over my career, I’ve been fortunate to work with a variety of fantastic brands, and I look forward to applying that experience to Mercury’s success.”
