When in Cannes

Velocity Films was delighted to walk away from the final Cannes Lions awards evening on Saturday with a Bronze Lion in hand. The award was received for Ogilvy Johannesburg’s Topsy Foundation commercial ‘Kevin’, directed by Keith Rose.

The accolade was one of only two Lions to be awarded for South African work in the Film category. The second Bronze went to Net#work BBDO for Coronation Fund Managers.

While Cannes festivities were well underway, Velocity was humbled to see they were also listed in the Shots Top 15 Most Celebrated Production Companies in the world. Spirits continued to remain high in the days that followed, as AdForum released their newsletter announcing Velocity’s Greg Gray as their number one ranked director for the month.

“We are over the moon to receive such positive feedback from the industry for our work and directors,” says Barry Munchick, co-founder of Velocity. “It’s been a interesting year so far, the economy has proved tough but business has been steady and we are excited for the next few months ahead.”
