Gold winner at the prestigious Epica Award 2017 with the campaign "Election In The Dark" for Yahoo, Yoshimitsu Sawamoto is without doubt one of Japan’s hottest and most hard-working creatives. The Japan Advertising Agencies Association has given him its Creative Person of the Year Award a record number three times.
Since joining Dentsu in 1990, he has always worked as a specialist writer of TV commercials, or a so-called CM Planner, although he now oversees both traditional and non-traditional campaigns as Executive Creative Director. As well as overseeing departments in Dentsu named CDC, Creative Planning Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, he also has positions in the Media Content Planning Division, and the Radio & TV Division, making him a multi-disciplined ECD.
He has worked for numerous clients, in sectors ranging from food and beverages to telecommunications, entertainment, education, pharmaceuticals, retail, airlines, newspapers, publishing and insurance.
Yoshimitsu has judged at Cannes, Clio and Adfest and was jury president at Japan’s biggest domestic award, ACC.
He wrote the script for the Japanese movie “Judge” and is the author of four novels. He is also the scriptwriter for a Manga series.
