Story | Young black are 3x more likely to be shot by trained shooters than their white peers. A disturbing potential correlation: the most popular target for shooters to lean to use their firearm is a black silhouette. What if unconscious bias is deadly? “No more black target” is an artistic project to raise awareness of the danger of unconscious bias. It seeks to eliminate the use of the “human black silhouette” target in shooting ranges.Gathering more than 50 artists. The targets have been replaced & painted over w/ artistic interpretations that turn the menacing black targets into beautiful, colorful, & optimistic art.The movement have driven people to a change.org petition, where they can sign and add their name to support the issue.Interested artists, activists and collaborators can contribute their own target art through a simple template, sign the petition, and see a gallery of artwork contributed from around the globe at www.nomoreblacktargets.com. |
