Story | Derry was one of the most violently divided cities in the world. Its world famous political murals, drawn by the IRA and loyalist paramilitaries, are symbols of this conflict. They depict the divisions of the past: “the old murals simply keep old wounds open”. We replaced these scenes of violence with five teenagers who united the city like nothing else. It TRENDED #1 IN IRELAND, #2 IN THE UK AND #3 WORLDWIDE, and is now a key destination promoted by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. THE NEW YORK TIMES called the mural “A SYMBOL OF PRIDE FOR THE CITY”. |
