About me
James Caddick is an experienced and multi-faceted film-maker. His work spans a variety of styles, including documentary, performance, comedy and design. He has collaborated with The Maccabees on several projects, including the critically acclaimed ‘Elephant Days’ which premiered at BFI London Film Festival.
He is passionate about telling stories through film in fresh, inspiring and engaging ways. And he runs at shooting with both large and small crews with equal enthusiasm.

James completed an MA in Art and Design at The Royal College of Art and started directing upon graduation. He has won awards for directing music videos for artists such as Lily Allen and The Maccabees and commissions for documentaries for Channel 4.
His first commercial was a wonderfully crafted spot for Enel Energy for Saatchi’s featuring magical vignettes that employed the use of animation, beautiful cinematography and library footage. Further commercials followed for TBWA, BBC Radio1, and Wieden and Kennedy for the mulit award winning sponsorship idents for Honda.
James’ work is visually textural; it includes finely crafted and layered sound design, and often mixes formats and genres to create beautifully styled and dynamic stories that are both humourous and poignant.
Elephant Days is James’ most recent film, a documentary featuring The Maccabees. The film takes place over the 2 year period it has taken the band to record their new album in the Elephant & Castle area of South London. Combining genres of music and social documentary the film interweaves 6 stories for the local community. James takes us on an journey with charismatic characters from the local community as he discovers what it takes for people to achieve something they are passionate about. It’s a film that triumphs the underdog.
