The ILO - International Labour Organization, launched the 50 For Freedom campaign during the 104th International Labour Conference at the Palais des Nations (UN headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland). The awareness action promoted at the event was called THE BLANK DOCUMENT. Heads of state, ministers, delegates, staff and visitors were prompted to sign over a blank panel, placed in the hallway where everybody could see it. At the end of the last day of meetings, the panel, completely signed, was covered with a great message: if signing a blank sheet was so simple, sign for a good cause should be even easier. 50 For Freedom – Sign up to end modern slavery.
Philosophy
In 1930, more than a hundred countries signed the International Labour Organization's Convention which established the rules and objectives to combat slavery. Today, 21 million people around the globe still live and work under these conditions.
Problem
In order to reduce this number, we need 50 countries to ratify the ILO protocol and include Modern Slavery in this effort until december 2018. It is called: 50 For Freedom.
