Entry Summary; This is a bold piece of film for Aston Martin by Director Rankin. To standout with its new Vantage car, Aston Martin needed to do something different with the launch film, in a world where too often, competing brands only talk about how powerful their cars are. We wanted to show Vantage's innate predatory character.;Like the archetypal hunter, the visuals too needed balance, precision and raw power. This film matches those attributes of Vantage, taking it to a fearsome new level. Not only does the film encapsulate the raw intensity of driving Vantage, but the two characters depict a younger, more dynamic target consumer for the Vantage, with a woman chasing the man.;The piece aimed to stand out in the performance GT category, injecting memorable storytelling to steer clear of the traditional automotive product film, demonstrating a bolder, fresher vision for the Aston Martin brand.;Brief Explanation; Two drivers in a furious chase. Vying for dominance over each other. It’s an exhilarating thread. It’s sensual and high intensity, just like new Vantage - the born predator. The story shows the car off to the max, with a woman chasing her prey, hunting him down. It’s the chase of their lives. It begins slow. A tense long distance hunt. One tracking the other. Then turns, swerves, screeching wheels, killer moves. The gap between the two gets smaller. We feel the awesome power of nature. Now it’s only a hair’s breadth, or a leopard’s whisker.;An explosive montage explores both hunter and car, subtly intertwining as one. Visceral imagery propels you through a rollercoaster of emotion, evoking predatory instincts. Attuned senses, a practised silence, the split second attack. The car becomes a symbol of primal beauty. This is as much a sensual experience as it is an exhilarating one.
