| Story | The commercial movie “The Mother City”, which is produced with contributions from T.R. Prime Ministry Promotion Fund, aims to show Turkish and world public the tragedy that is happening in Syria and the sensibility and sacrifices of Kilis, which welcomed more Syrian people than its population with open arms like a compassionate mother. Kilis Municipality has shown an outstanding success in infrastructure services and social policies in the face of population growth and thus, ensured the adaptation of the Syrian people to the city and the daily life as soon as possible. Furthermore the people of Kilis have made all kinds of sacrifices to make their guests feel at home. Today in Kilis, people from two different countries live side by side in peace and harmony without any significant disturbance of public order; and Kilis is nominated for Nobel Peace Prize because of its exemplary approach. Kilis proves that the hopes which were destroyed by the civil war can be restored with compassion and kindness and it demonstrates with its approach and actions that it is “the mother city of hope and peace”. In the movie “The Mother City” the tragedy of Syrian people are told through the perspective of a little Syrian girl. The girls loses her mother in a bombing in Aleppo and comes to Kilis with a convoy, there she meets a woman from Kilis that resembles her deceased mother. Despite the little girl’s disappointment over realizing that the woman is not her mother, the woman from Kilis welcomes the little girl like her real mother. In fact, Kilis has welcomed all Syrians with the same compassion. |
