Story | Today, on the World Hepatitis Day, the Ministry of Health kicks off a campaign against all types of hepatitis. The Ministry is working towards raising people's awareness and engaging everyone in an effort to respond more vigorously to these diseases. To this end, nova/sb, which specializes in Public Interest Communications, has been commissioned to spearhead a nationwide campaign to inform the population. The World Health Organization (WHO) created the date, on July 28th, following a Brazilian proposal made in 2010. Since then, the month is called the "Yellow July." Hepatitis B and C — the main focus of this campaign — are invisible and silent diseases. Nonetheless, different messages will be put across for each target audience. Info about the hepatitis C virus is on the film geared towards people older than 40 who have had any surgery, blood transfusion or tattooing by the year 1993 — when there was low hepatitis testing rates — and may have, back then, caught the disease, which can be cured by taking medications if one is tested positive. Inspired by Japanese artist Liu Bolin, the creative team of nova/sb have put together a campaign whose icons are camouflaged characters representing this invisible yet massively present disease. With the slogan "It doesn't matter if it's B or C. Don't let hepatitis take you by surprise," everyday situations are portrayed, such as having your nails done, tattooing, sexual intercourse, etc. |
