What started as an internal initiative for LGBTQ Pride Month has evolved into a broader effort to show support for the LGBTQ community.
#ProudLogos, an initiative led by J. Walter Thompson, began in June when we changed our logos on our website and across our social channels. Our entire network was also invited to make their office signatures “proud,” by switching to logos that had been redesigned to reflect the colors of the rainbow flag, the universal symbol of pride and diversity among the LGBTQ community.
On June 26, we expanded this campaign to also include #ProudPhotos, a fun activation that allows anyone to make photos of themselves “proud” by uploading them to a rainbow tool on proudphotos.org.
Our goal? To demonstrate acceptance for all.
With the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on June 26 that declared same-sex marriage a constitutional right across the country, the campaign expanded to become even more meaningful in what has become a historic day for the gay rights movement.
We invited clients and partners to join the campaign and show their support by turning their logos proud for the weekend of June 26-28, Pride Weekend in New York City, and the culmination of Pride Month in many cities in the U.S. and around the world.
Matt Eastwood, J. Walter Thompson Company’s Worldwide Chief Creative Officer, said of the initiative, “We live in an exciting time of change and progress in the quest for equality, but there is still a long way to go. Sometimes all it takes is a simple change to support and make a bigger change. I am proud of the idea, and am thrilled to see its growth with the additional support from our clients and partners.”
All #ProudLogos were created internally by J. Walter Thompson New York, and shared with participating companies pro-bono. Companies that wish to join the #ProudLogos movement can email proud@jwt.com for a customized logo.
