Verizon Buys AOL for $4.4 Billion

Today, it went public that Verizon Communications Inc. agreed to buy AOL Inc. for a whopping $4.4 billion in a cash deal. The acquisition combines the largest U.S. wireless carrier and one of the largest digital content and web advertising platforms.

Supposedly, the deal has a lot to do with AOL's trailblazing online advertising technology, which makes it easier for ad agencies, publishers and brands to get advertisements in front of their target markets.
