Story To do something about this social problem, we joined forces with Samsung and the Dutch Traffic Safety Association (Veilig Verkeer Nederland/VVN) to introduce a unique game: Beat The Street. It's a first-of-its-kind Virtual Reality game for traffic safety, and a great opportunity to use technology in a relevant way that contributes something important to society.

‘Beat The Street’ allows young people to experience a wide range of dangerous traffic situations that are very true to life.

They have to make choices and take action – for example, look carefully, cross the street or wait until it is safe to do so. The motion sensors in the Gear VR give the children live feedback so that they are confronted, in a playful way, with the consequences of their actions.

The app is a fun experience, partly because the collisions are depicted in a cartoonish way. At the same time, the lessons really hit home. Because the children feel they are genuinely experiencing the events in the game, they create a real memory that they can learn from.
The Samsung Gear VR is a mobile virtual reality headset, a compatible Samsung Galaxy device (Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6/S6 Edge/S6 Edge+, or Galaxy S7/S7 Edge).
