Story Maped is a school, writing, and office supplies goods manufacturer. Maped is an international company operating in 120 countries that creates, amongst other things, a range of felt-tips and crayons. In a world where the boundaries between manual activities and new digital uses are blurring Maped has decided to re-enchant colouring with Creative Adventure.
Philosophy OUR APPROACH
We've created an educational game made for tablets that sits at the crossing point of manual activities, interactive manipulation, and exploration. To start the game you have to print Leo the explorer's flying machines. Next these vehicles pass over children's expert hands.
IMPLEMENTATION
Thanks to the Vuforia augmented reality solution we created a shape recognition and outlining system. After being coloured the spaceships come to life directly in the video game. It's the starting point of an exploration journey in a virtual world. Child will discover the jungle inhabitants through several quests. The "Snow" (the far north exploration) and "Ocean" games are also available on stores.
RESULTS
The game is highlighted on 7 million Maped packaging and available for download in 43 countries. Thanks to this hybrid advergame (on & off) colouring models become digitally engageming content. They are broadcast all over the web but also in physical point of sale by means of the "Creative Adventure Colouring Book". This innovative approach allows Maped to be seen as a modern brand by combining its core business, manual activities, and new digital uses.
