Philosophy Battery, the Toronto and Los Angeles-based creative agency, brings a little carry-on humor to Royal Bank of Canada, giving viewers a glimpse into the hidden life of luggage to promote RBC’s travel rewards credit card, Avion.

There's a lot to unpack here...and by a lot, we mean some witty and light-hearted luggage banter. In the hero spot “Forgotten Suitcase” directed by Finn O’Hara of Holiday Films - Toronto, a dramatic voiceover provides the first-hand lamentations of a neglected suitcase, stowed away in a dark walk-in closet and out of use for the past sixteen months. As the camera slowly pushes in, the spot-lit item waxes poetic about vacations past. Suddenly, the despair over its retirement transforms into a new lease on life, as the closet lights turn on and a woman's hand grabs the handle and rolls it out, accompanied by the tagline “Let’s get ready to travel again.”

Airing on Canadian TV throughout the Olympics programming, as well as digital and social, the campaign taps into the feelings of excitement and adventure the return of travel brings, championing Avion as the travel rewards card leader and a reliable companion when booking on any airline, any flight, anytime.

Battery has an established creative relationship with RBC, having delivered multiple TV and digital campaigns across Canada and the U.S., including bringing to life the RBC initiative Future Launch, a program helping Canadian youth prepare for the fast-changing world of work. Battery’s debut work for RBC’s Golf Division featured the world’s #1 golfer Dustin Johnson, and drew connections between RBC and the 24-time PGA Tour winner to communicate how RBC’s wealth-management business attracts similarly high-achieving and competitive individuals.
