Story | The starting idea was to enable the blind people to experience colors for the first time in their lives, by using something they always have with them- their mobile phones. Sonochrome app transforms color vibrations into sounds in real time, based on a specially designed chart that makes the experience as natural and intuitive as possible: for example, similar colors will sound similarly, cold and deep colors sound completely differently then bright and vibrant ones. With use, Sonochrome trains the brain to develop synesthesia, a phenomenon in which stimulation of one sense is experienced in another. It enriches lives of blind people significantly, making it possible for them to have a subjective experience of colors and even enjoy a painting, or a beautiful sight. |
