Philosophy | Volkswagen has enlisted Swedish electro-punk star Rein for a new campaign around its e-Golf model. Rein interprets pop queen Leila K's hit Electric from 1996. The original is seen as a timeless classic in Sweden. Rein's version is produced by Joakim Åhlund and Tony Senghore and you can listen to it on Spotify. The collaboration is part of Volkswagen's major investment in electric cars. In addition to the song, a music video and a commercial film is rolling out on television and digitally in conjunction with the launch. The music video is made with the power of the battery in an e-Golf, to illustrate how powerful the battery truly is. In the music video, which takes place on a stage in the middle of the forest with a set design by the fashion designer Martin Bergström, everything revolves around the power of an electric car, and situations that can be driven by the battery of an e-Golf. Three commercials have also been produced, all illustrating what can be equated with the power of a car battery – like producing a rock concert, an electromagnet or a wind tunnel. |
