Story On March 20th 2020, every school in the UK shut its doors. Class dismissed, exams axed and the biggest event of the school year – sports day – cancelled.With an ambition to upskill the nation for a digital future and provide a level playing field for all, BT took sports day – a key cultural event in the UK – online.With over 65% of future jobs yet to be defined, BT’s Digital Dash app – developed alongside education professionals – turned school sports day into a vital, completely free learning tool.Kids created their avatar and competed in challenges that taught them about algorithmic and sequential thinking, developing invaluable computational skills as they raced towards the live YouTube final – hosted by Reggie Yates and Dame Kelly Holmes.Digital Dash was more popular than Star Wars, Worms and Tomb Raider, played over 156,000 times and reached more then 30 million people across the UK.
